They are certainly NOT helping people with disabilities to make a living, that's for sure! Shame on you, Microsoft! It is not hard to build in a setting for "color of the flag-placeholder". Not for the life of me can I grasp why and how Microsoft have come up with the idea of coloring a flag-placeholder so heavily that nobody can see there isn't any flags - except when a flag is suddenly set and (the lucky color-seeing people) the difference It sure does! I find that Segoe UI font allows for "semibold" and setting font size "larger" (one step above "normal") brings the required amount of attention to the lines, without hurting the eyes too much. You may need to do this more than once (depending on the folder/view). I agree that this change in design is terrible, and I don't even love this workaround, but it does work! What this will do is change the formatting of each row so you can quickly see which messages are flagged. Item Which' and then ensure 'are flagged by me' is selected in the drop down. Now click 'Condition', then click 'More Choices' then click the check box that says 'Only Click 'Add', and change the font to (say) italic and a colour that you can actually see. I found a work around today - it doesn't fix the flag icons, but allows you to see which messages have a flag. You can also set a reminder at the same time you setup the follow-up flag. But I prefer the follow-up field, over categories, because So Categories can be used instead of the flags as well. But now in Outlook 2013 the color is working correctly for Categories.
